Meet Valerie Makarenko

Valerie Makarenko is a Tax Director and member of Anchin’s Private Client Group. She has over 20 years of experience advising high net worth individuals and their families. Valerie oversees the tax planning and compliance for ultra-high net worth families, including family partnerships, all varieties of trusts, individuals, private foundations and estate income tax and estate tax returns. She leverages her command of trusts and estate planning strategies to design solutions that fit her clients’ specific needs and priorities. She handles financial matters that range in complexity from routine transactions, such as handling fiduciary accountings, to working with families and their other advisors to design and implement sophisticated estate and charitable giving plans, as well as other tax strategies.

Valerie excels at helping her clients navigate significant life changes by offering proactive ideas and financial planning solutions aimed at safeguarding wealth and upholding the family’s legacy.

In addition to her client work, Valerie mentors several colleagues at Anchin. She provides trainings and internal education sessions on complex technical subjects. She has authored many articles for the firm’s private client newsletter, “The Center”.
