Anchin Private Client Leader Q&A – Meet Kathleen Braica
Anchin Private Client is thrilled to introduce Kathleen Braica, CPA who leads Anchin’s new Boca Raton office. She is a partner and experienced tax and accounting specialist who is deeply rooted in the Florida market. Her insights and client-first mentality have enabled her to instantly feel like a part of the Anchin family.
1-What are some differences between New York and Florida, besides the weather?
Weather is certainly one of the biggest! I find Florida to be like New York in some ways in that it has many different cultures throughout the state and there really is something for everyone here. Also, over the years, many people have moved from the Tri-state area to Florida.
As far as business is concerned, there isn’t much of a difference from a client service perspective. We have clients down here who have amassed significant wealth and achieved great success, and so they have very sophisticated needs. Maybe the pace is a little more relaxed down here in Florida, but the skills and expertise needed to bring value to clients are the same.
2-What excites you about the Florida market?
It’s growing and thriving, and people are moving down here every day. The opportunities are endless and it’s just a lot of fun to be in this environment.
3-What’s your favorite part about the work that you do?
I really enjoy helping my clients. It’s rewarding to be able to show clients value and see their excitement when we do. I also love teaching and mentoring other members of the team. While many would not consider accounting the most exciting career, I find that the private client space is never boring or routine, that there’s always something to be improving or troubleshooting, and we’re always learning. It’s constantly growing and changing, and is actually fun, vibrant, interesting and energizing.
4-What was the best advice you have ever received?
“If you enjoy what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” I think there’s great truth in it. If you’re not enjoying what you are doing, you won’t be able to bring the passion necessary to excel in it and have career longevity. When my daughter thinks about her future and asks me for my thoughts, I tell her to do something that she enjoys doing and to have fun with it.
5-What is a motto that you live by personally or professionally?
My daughter shared a notion with me about elevating and mentoring others that I thought was very profound. She was playing volleyball and she said to me, “Teams are like popcorn – everyone pops at their own time.” I think that’s what I love about working with a team and teaching others. You can see them develop, thrive and grow and it’s extremely rewarding.
6-What do you want our readers in Florida to know about you?
I love what I do. I love working with people, helping them address their tax and financial needs and solve problems. I genuinely find it fun. Some of my clients have even gone so far as to say that they never enjoyed working with someone on their taxes until they met me, because I really do enjoy what I do.
