Survey Results: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industries

October 13, 2022

“We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.”

-Maya Angelou

Anchin is pleased to present the results of our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) survey for the architecture, engineering and construction (A/E/C) industries. In this evolving era, creating an inclusive environment for design and construction is more important than ever and requires that we find ways to share ideas and work together.

The A/E/C industries, like many others, have faced challenges with diversity and inclusion.

Over the last few years, A/E/C firms have started to take a serious look at DE&I initiatives. Though the industry has made great strides to support and cultivate diverse talent and reach out to diverse communities, there’s more work to be done.

As diversity increases in these industries, we will see increases in productivity. Productivity gains begin when companies step up recruitment and retention and improve workplace DE&I. The result is a more efficient and effective workforce where all employees feel supported to work to their full potential.

Thank you to all who participated in sharing how you are strategizing to make the workplace a safe place, fostering a sense of belonging among your workforce, encouraging open-mindedness and open dialogue, and ensuring that your firm’s culture is one that not only welcomes differences but also celebrates them.

If you have any ideas for future A/E/C industry surveys, please email [email protected].
