Meet Annie Zhao

Senior Tax Manager

Annie Zhao is a Senior Manager in the Tax Controversy group at Anchin. She has worked at Anchin for more than 10 years and has over 18 years of tax controversy and audit resolution experience.

Annie specializes in both federal and state tax controversy, representing clients before the IRS, as well as state and local taxing authorities. Specifically, she focuses her practice on income, franchise and excise taxes, state and local taxation, sales and use tax, tax amnesty, voluntary disclosure, penalty abatement, offer in compromise, installment payment agreements, and notice responses. In addition, Annie helps clients mitigate their exposure to tax examinations by navigating them through the various complexities of tax compliance and filing obligations.

Prior to joining Anchin, Annie worked as an income and franchise tax field auditor with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, Manhattan District Office. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Hunter College where she teaches courses on Advance Federal Taxation and State and Local Taxation.

Annie’s article, “Statute of Limitations to Collect Tax Liabilities,” has been published by The TaxStringer, a publication of the New York State Society of Public Accountants (NYSSCPA).

Annie is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the NYSSCPA. She is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese.
